Lifestyles are sporadically changing. The changing lifestyles are bringing variations in the retail environment. Scarcity of time added to increase in disposable incomes has created the need of new types of retail formats. Moreover the socioeconomic structure in India has changed the field of functioning of retailing. In view of the above Directorate General of Training (DGT) has developed the syllabi of four modules of Retail Modules. DGT has also prescribed the entry eligibility of each module and the coverage time of each module. We are reproducing the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Tree Diagrams which self-explanatory. We have developed reading material considering the backgrounds of vocational candidates. This material is likely to be useful to both beginners experienced retail employees. Also teachers of retail courses will fine this suitable. However, we followed the syllabus of DGT/DGE&T to the extent possible. We have attached one question paper of each RET101 and RET202 with answers. Teachers can develop question paper deleting the answers. Moreover, we are requesting the teachers to give assignments to the students. Copies of the answers should never be given to the students/candidates. If given, that would simple ruin them. We feel that the readers will file the entire material useful. However, I am drawing attentions of teachers/instructors to the topics ‘Critical Thinking Questions’ and ‘Preparing for a position in Retail’ We have tried to make this reading material free from mistake.
